Symbols on packaging

THE PACKAGING IS RECYCLABLE
An eco label placed on packagings which can be recycled to produce a different, similar product.

KEEP IT CLEAN
This symbol reminds us to dispose of the packaging to dedicated bins. This is to promote good practices among consumers and prevent environment pollution.

“GREEN POINT”
This means that the manufacturer may have financed the construction and functioning of a packaging waste recovery and recycling system. It is often confused with the recycling symbol.

BIODEGRADABLE PACKAGING
This sign is placed on packaging which decomposes when composted and does not produce any harmful substances in the process.

ECOLOGICAL FARMING
This sign is placed on products sourced from farms which obtained the ecological farming status, which means that their production is environmentally friendly.

VEGAN
This symbol is used to mark food products, cleansing products, clothes, cosmetics, or even services. It informs the user that no animal products were used to produce them.

CROSSED OUT CONTAINER
This symbol means that, after it is used, the product must not be discarded into a container with other waste. It is usually placed on RTV and household equipment. Waste equipment can be handed over to electric waste collection points - in our city, these are the so-called eco-points.

ECOLOGICAL SIGN
This sign means that the product was produced according to the ecological criteria determined by the Polish Research and Certification Center. It is granted to products and services, both domestic and foreign, which are safe for the environment during the whole life cycle of the product.

CE MARKING
This sign means that the product was manufactured according to regulations effective in the European Union and according to human health and safety standards. Note an identical sign placed on products imported from China - where letters are closer to one another.

ALUMINUM SIGN
This sign says that the packaging or product is made of aluminum and is therefore recyclable. Dispose of this waste into the bin for metals and plastics.

REUSABLE PACKAGING
This sign is only used in Poland. It signals that the material used for fabricating the product can be reused.

CRUELTY FREE
This means that, in the research and testing phase, the product was not tested on animals. It is mainly used on cosmetic packagings.

MSC
This certificate is granted to fish products sourced from sustainable fishing practices. It is mainly placed on fish products and canned fish preserved.

DOLPHIN SAFE
This marking granted by the Earth Island Institute informs that the tuna contained in the product was caught as part of a dolphin-safe fishing practice (e.g. no drifting nets were used).

ECOCERT
This sign is to confirm the “ecological” purity of the product. It is most often placed on natural and organic cosmetics. To obtain this certificate, the manufacturer must fulfill a series of requirements concerning the process of production, ingredient sourcing, or quality, origin, etc.

ECOLABEL (the Daisy symbol)
It is a major European label granted to distinguish products fulfilling the strictest environmental standards, honored in all Member States.

EKOLAND
This label is granted to products from environmentally friendly farms, whose entire production cycle was safe for the environment, i.e. took place without the use of mineral fertilizers, assuming the economic use of natural resources. It is awarded by the Polish Association of Ecological Food Manufacturers.

The SWAN
This symbol is used for marking ecological products from Scandinavian countries, whose entire manufacture process is environmentally friendly - from production, through use and ending with disposal.

ENERGY STAR
A symbol placed on energy-saving RTV and household appliances, office equipment, office equipment, air conditioning devices, etc. It is awarded as part of a program ran by the US Environmental Protection Agency and the US Department of Energy.

FAIRTRADE
This symbol is placed on imported products, e.g. coffee, bananas, honey, coca, rice, wine, etc. to guarantee that the standards of the International Labor Organization are respected in terms of equal working conditions for men and women, fair remuneration, and ecological standards of the products.
