Crush the bottle
Plastic bottles, cans and cardboard boxes must be pressed

The City Waste Management Facility (MZGO) hereby appeals to all residents and real property owners from Dąbrowa Górnicza - when segregating our waste, let us remember to press plastic bottles, cans and cardboard boxes before they are discarded into the bin, and to throw them in without their caps.

press the bottle

The observations of recent weeks have shown that we are dealing with overfilled bins for segregated waste. What does it mean? Non-pressed PET bottles are thrown into waste containers, which take up very much space. We should remember that four pressed PET bottles take up the same amount of room as a non-pressed bottle! This is why the bins fill up so easily and trash keeps falling out.

The effort is minor, but the problem is getting serious. If the refuse discarded is reduced in terms of volume, more of it will fit into the bins. Let’s not throw out air! Non-pressed bottles take up precious space in our containers which forces out to make more frequent collection routes. Waiting for the bin to be emptied, bottles are thrown away onto the ground. The bin is often empty, but surrounded by bags with refuse which were not thrown into the bin because they did not fit in the hole. In this situation, you need to insert individual items into the hole.

In general, to have less waste, we should be more considerate when shopping. We can produce less waste if we start picking durable products in large packs. Going shopping, take a bag with you. Let us not ornament our trees with plastic bags. Let us avoid products packed in several layers. We should also pick glass bottles over plastic ones. Let us use multiple charge batteries instead of single-use ones. The City Waste Management Facility would like to remind every resident about Eco Points, where every resident can bring their hazardous waste free of charge, i.e. tires, used batteries, oil, paint packaging, used RTV and household appliances, etc.
